It's obvious the developers didn't know where the hell they were going with this one.

Pros: Huhuh, the Power Rangers kick high.
Cons: Too easy. Too short.
The Bottom Line: Buy it, play it, finish it, chuck it. Congratulations, you've passed 20 minutes of time.

| C_A's Full Review: Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie for Sega G... |
Note: Review originally written in like, May of 2000. May not be of any good quality, haha.
OK, OK, I admit it, dammit. I was a pretty big Power Ranger fan back in the day. Humiliatingly enough, I watched the show for about 4 or 5 years. Stupid me. Anyway, this game was bought for my sister about 5 years ago for an amazing 50 dollars. Was it worth the 50 dollars? No. 25? No. 5? Yeah.
This game was easy. Not to the point that where its one hit and the enemy is dead, but to the point that its almost utterly impossible to die. Theres only about, oh, 6 or 7 stages, and only about 3 pertain to the way the movie itself went. In this game you get to choose from one of six Power Rangers, whether it be the Red, Black, or White even. There are differences between each power ranger, but its barely noticeable. Like, for instance, the lady Power Rangers run faster than the males. Oh
wow..
Im glad this game wasnt just one of those punch, kick, die games. There are several moves you can execute. First off is the usual punching and kicking, but then there are moves such as the overhead throw, the jump-spin kick, and some other spinning kick thing thats almost useless (it takes down your health, too). Also, if you hold down one of the buttons (I forget which) long enough, you can do a move with your characters weapon, which proves very effective against the baddies. You can also tap the left or right button twice to run, which can also result in using your weapon (I think, that is. I dont remember).
The stages werent very well planned out, but they were a little bit fun. The 1st stage was really damned short. All you did was walk forward and kill human-size birds, or ooze guys, I forget which, for about 90 seconds only to be zapped by Ivan Ooze, the special friend for this game. In the 2nd stage, you fight about 100 ooze guys and get run over by 4 or 5 cars. The 3rd stage involves the Power Rangers getting into their Zords (huge assed robots) to beat up on large monsters created by that Ivan Ooze guy. Then, for some ungodly reason, they decide to flashback to when three of the Power Rangers first joined the team. I guess they found out that about 3 damned levels in the entire game just wasnt going to cut the mustard. Anyway, the flashback stages are just kill kill, die die, until you get back to the present time to fight Ooze. First you fight him in the city with your zords, then you fight him again in space, where he isnt even more powerful. Then you get to see the ending, which was average and cheesy at best. After finishing this game, youll look at your watch and go, Damn, thats one of the shortest games Ive ever played.
Theres not much at all to say about graphics. The Power Rangers are designed pretty well in this game, and they dont look like hell. They show pictures, which look kind of good, along the game, telling the story of all thats happening. Visuals in the level designs were good, but not something to pay attention to and make you go, Wow, I dont care about the game, I like the graphics. Heueheheh, purdy graphics.
I had mixed feelings for the control factor. When youre fighting as the Power Rangers, I liked how freely you could move around and beat the hell out of things at will, but when youre in the Zords it becomes quite a bit more tedious to fight. Cripes, I had to fight Goldar (a big dumb gold monkey) for several minutes before I could beat him with my slow piece of crap Gundam-Reject.
They had the opening theme to the Power Rangers in this game, but it was hardly done to perfection. About 60%, Id say. About one theme on this game is a bit memorable and catchy, but the rest of it is forgettable stuff that no one cares for.
Would you play this game over and over again? It is 25 to 30 minutes long. Answer this question on your own.
Overall, this game is borderline average. At most I would pay about four to five dollars for the cart. With the box and instructions, 4.25 to 5.25. Heh. This couldve been a very good game, had it about 10 more levels and about 5 times more challenge.
