Creative Labs is a well-known name in MP3 technology. They have come out with several players that rival those of Sony, Panasonic, Philips, and Apple. Their commitment to quality and customer service is splendid and doing business with them was a pleasure. Before I heard of the Creative Labs Nomad Jukebox Zen Digital Audio Player, I could not have imagined that listening to my favorite songs could be such a breeze. This MP3 player is a dream come true for any music lover. It has something called Smart Volume Management (SMV) which seems to work very well but I haven't noticed the advantage of having that. Read the box before buying to see the full list of features.
The first thing I noticed about this MP3 player was the style. The design is very stylish and the high-tech look is just superb. It is larger in size than most other MP3 players I have seen but still small enough to fit in your pocket. Traveling with this music powerhouse won't be a problem since it comes with a handy travel pouch that can be strapped to your belt. It is truly a music powerhouse. It has an amazing 20GB storage capacity that will store (literally) thousands of music files. It can store a whopping 5000 high-quality MP3 files. It also supports WAV and WMA formats -- you can get upto 8000 songs if you go with these low quality formats. Transferring those songs is fast and easy. This player uses the new USB 2.0 high-speed connection that can be used for both transferring files and charging. The Li-Ion battery lasts for upto 11-12 hours -- that's the most I have seen with any MP3 player I have used so far. However, the problem is that it can store more than 300 hours of high-quality MP3 music so you won't be able to listen to all the songs continuously without recharging quite a few times. I have found it to be great overall. It is such a relief finally having all my music in one place and available for play anytime. I don't have to search through my CD collection to find that song anymore. The included software makes it easy to manage and transfer files.
I just gave you a very detailed account of what this player can do but now let me tell you about what comes in the box besides the player itself. It comes with headphones that can only be describe as acceptable. The quality is great but could be better. This definitely needs some improvement. You won't look stupid wearing them though. They have a futuristic look that is sure to amaze. The USB 2.0 cable and adapter are also included. It comes with a small travel pouch for traveling that can be strapped to your belt. There is some software included too. It is excellent and I love it. The Creative Playcenter 3 software can be used for organizing and transferring files between your computer and the player. That's all it comes with but you can order extras. Creative Labs has an optional FM wired remote. It apparently has a microphone so you can record now. I don't have it so I can't comment on its quality. You have to buy the remote separately.
The Royal Verdict
My overall experience with this player has been superb. It is not cheap my any stretch of the imagination but it'll store thousands of songs. It is very stylish and the latest in MP3 player technology. I highly recommend that you buy this if you enjoy music. I compared this to several other players and this was the best then. There are other players that can be considered better or equal so do your research before buying. This is something that you won't regret buying and for all the reasons I just explained. This retails for around $299 and can be bought at many retailers. I suggest you don't buy something like this online but rather walk in a store. Don't wait much longer if you want to buy this because it won't let you down.
