Pros:Nice looking design, SXGA Screen, Powerful Specs, Large HD, inexspenive
Cons:Poor graphic chip, heavy, slow for what it suppose to be...
The Bottom Line: Dont buy this computer, its not even worth the money. The speed of it is equivalent to a 1 ghz desktop. Pay attention to avoid SHARED memory.
I been using this laptop for about 4 weeks now. First thing you notice is the powerful specs : Pentium 4 2.66 ghz, 512 meg SHARED ram(upgradable to 1 gig), 64 meg ATI Raedon graphic chipset with "3d architecture"(i'll get into this later), 60 gig HD, 15 in. SXGA TFT screen, and DVD/CDRW all for the inexpensive price of $1645. Now when you put it all together, you would expect a really powerful workhorse, well worth the money, but do not be led astray by the illusion.
I noticed right away after first starting the computer that it seemed to "act" a little slow after clicking the WinXP start button. I just ignored it, being mezmerized by the beautiful SXGA screen. But within a week the screen had a burnt out pixel so I returned back to the store and they gave me a new one.
Since this was suppose to be a powerhouse laptop, I went ahead and installed some graphic heavy applications, only to my horror to see how slow it proccess the graphics. I was then dismayed to find out what "shared memory" really meant. Then certain application would often crash and not even start up anymore. I began wondering what the problem was so I ran a benchmark test on it and to my shock this laptop scored just as well as my Pentium3 1 ghz desktop did.
As of right now I am disapointed with this purchase and I cant even refund it back. Do not buy this computer, it is not as fast as it seems, it crashes often, it is bulky and heavy, and is definately not for graphic processing.
