I am a huge fan of Amazon.com and have been ordering books and other items from them for many years. I have not had a bad experience in all that time, books arrive promptly plus there are so many new areas that they keep adding on their web site. The area I have just recently delved into the AMAZON MARKETPLACE to sell some of my many books. What a surprise and wonderful experience as I have in the past bought books that were listed on Amazons regular book section as new or used. They were shipped to me promptly and the cost was all handled by my credit card through Amazon.
It was just on chance that when I was ordering a book I noticed the button that said to Sell Yours Here. That intrigued me as I have plenty of books that I could sell and I sure have the time to check this out. If you are interested in selling your merchandise you must first register with Amazon Marketplace. This will guide you to fill out their registration for your personal bank and your bank account number as your earnings will automatically be deposited in your bank account. This process is easy to do as they explain in great detail all you need to do to get your bank account registered.
I then started checking back on Amazon the books I had bought recently and started through the process of selling that book. My first attempt was with my book on Kovels Antiques and Collectibles Price List 2003 as I thought that would be of interest to many readers. In the Amazon check list go to Books and in your search type in the book you want to find. When this page appears you will notice the little button Sell yours Here up in the right hand top section of the main book page. Give this a click bringing you to the first page of information where the first question needed is to check in what condition your book is in such as New, Used-Like New, Used-Very good, Used-Good, Used-Acceptable plus collectibles and these are listed the same way. Then in a few words or as much as 200 words you can describe just what condition your book is in. You must also put down your zip code so it will show just where your book will be shipped from.
Following that you continue on to another page where you will price your book, it give you a retail price and suggested price for used. This page also shows you what others have priced this same book so if you feel you can afford to do so, price it less that the lowest price marked. This gives your listing the top section and will show on the main book page as the lowest price. This section also shows the shipping costs, if you want standard postal rates or special fast shipping. I have used the standard as shipping books are very reasonable but the time of delivery is slower.
Amazon then shows your selling order as to what your returns for listing your book for sale. There is a fee that Amazon takes for handling the sale, they give you a set amount to take care of your postage then it shows what your final amount and it will be put into your account. After you click on the button sell now, you will receive an e-mail from Amazon that your book is now for sale. It takes a few hours or a day to have them all listed on your selling account.
From my first listing of the Kovels Antique book I was so surprised that the next morning I received an e-mail from Amazon that the book had been sold. They give you a list of instruction and list a shipping order, name and address of your buyer. They suggest to cut and past this section to print out a copy of the order to include when you send the book to your buyer. Their e-mail address is included in this form so I just cut and paste this shipping order into the e-mail with a short note of when I will be shipping the book.
I have purchased manila padded folders in different sizes to mail my books these can be purchased from Wal-Mart very reasonable. I type labels into my label maker of the persons address, plus adding at the bottom as Amazon suggests Amazon.com Marketplace Order. I also make a series of these on my labels so in getting my books ready to mail is a simple procedure. Microsoft Label maker is easy to use and so handy.
Since I first started this in the middle of June I have already sold seven books and have 19 more listed. It has been a fun project and I am able to clean out some books that are all in like new condition from my library. To check on your sales go to your account and you will find in the right hand section to click on Sellers Account and it will bring up all the items you have for sale. There will be a section to click on all sold items so you can keep track of all that has been sold and the price received.
I have thought about Ebay and maybe one of these days I will try the Auction on some of my old World War II books that were a collection of my Husbands. So far I have not ventured out into the Auction field as Amazon.com also has an Auction site so may try that one first. The AMAZON MARKETPLACE is giving me lots of pleasure and hope that all my buyers are satisfied with the prompt shipping and condition of their books. I have sold some Printer Ink cartridges when I bought the wrong size and now have one listed from my old printer since I have a new printer that takes a different size.
There are many sections other than books with which to chose to see your items such as Music, Video, DVD, Video Games, Computer games, Electronics or anything you can find on Amazon.com should have a place for you to sell something you dont need anymore. A little added income sure can come in handy as well. SUCCESS MEANS TO TREAT YOUR CUSTOMER LIKE YOU WOULD WANT TO BE TREATED!!
