Cheap, nasty swill in MY food? NO WAY.

The Bottom Line Don't even THINK about it!

Cooking wine is a waste of money. It's cheap wine, usually with added salt. Most importantly, it violates the first rule of cooking with wine:

If you can't drink it, don't cook with it.

There are enough drinkable wines out there for under $10 that you should never have to buy a bottle of "cooking" wine.

It's not even all that cheap, when you think about it. $3 for a bottle of cooking wine vs. $8 for a halfway decent bottle of White Zinfandel? Well, the bottle White Zin is twice the size as the bottle of cooking wine, so it's $6 vs. $8.

That $2 difference goes a LONG way.
