This Camcorder is possibly the best Canon has made. However, it's cost proves prohibitive for many. It's not like you aren't getting what you pay for, however. It is certainly a great camcorder, and has everything you could want in a camcorder. However, if you are only looking for something to record family movies, this is probably not your best pick. If you are looking to get into the movie business, you will want to look for a better camera. But if you are 30 years old, just received a bonus, and have always had a love for film and are a relativly technical person with the money to spend, this is just the camcorder for you. It really is a value, despite the fact that it is so expensive - it still contains all the features you could want.
Use of the camcorder is rather complex, but once you get used to it, it becomes second nature. I have found that the image stabilizer is really not that helpful, however. Many of the "effects" are un-needed. But still, this camera has great usefullness. Your movies will come out looking great, and you can pipe them out with various outputs. Overall, a great choice if you have the money.
