| intofilms's Full Review: Sony Vaio PCV-RZ32G P4-2.6GHz/512/80/DVD+/-RW/CDRW... |
When my absolutely HORRENDOUS E-machine died after less than 2½ short years of a sad little life, it was time for a new computer. I was adamant that I would not make the same mistake again by buying a computer solely for its features & price, so I decided to do some serious research prior to my next computer purchase. Every thing I learned directed me away from the usual (HP, Compaq, etc), and in the direction of a Sony Vaio.
Sony has a dependable name and reputation with electronics, and I had heard via word of mouth that Sony computer components were some of the best. So, after that, all I needed to do was figure out what system I wanted.
I had my heart set on what appeared to be a solid system, with great features at a reasonable price. So, I went with high hopes to Best Buy, ready to buy a Sony Vaio PCVR S210. For $1099, it had everything I wanted in a computer, and was half the price I spent on that junk system 3 years ago. I was disappointed to find that the only PCVR S210 left in the store was an open box, and, being gun shy from my previous bad experiences, I refused such a buy.
As I pondered what to do (I really needed a computer), I eyed the Sony Vaio PCV-RZ32G. At $1499 it was more than I had wanted to spend, but upon inspection, was a far better computer with more features (including a DVD BURNER!) than the other one. So, undeterred, I shelled out the extra bucks and took the PCV-RZ32G home.
It turns out it was the best move I could have made. This system is everything I could have hoped for and more. It was a breeze to install, as it was well packed with easy to use, color coded cables and connections. Even the computer illiterate (I'm not the quickest with computers) can hook it up with minimal headaches.
It comes with a nice, quiet keyboard and fiber optic mouse, which is happily missing the annoying ball that often makes "mice" stick when using. Also included are Sony Vaio speakers SP4 model, but since I already have some Harman Kardon, I didn't need them. That aside, they looked quite nice and of high quality.
As for the computer itself, it functions with super fast, lightening speed in all applications, from desktop to games. The tower itself is quality through and through, with easy to read display lights to indicate when the computer is on, as well as when you are using the DVD and CD Rom drives. It is extremely quiet during operation, as you can barely tell it's running. Windows loads quickly and easily soon after start-up and navigation is rather pleasant. It's running like a dream.
The only complaint I had (I really had to stretch to come up with one) is that it does not come with a lot of software. Luckily, however, what it DOES include is useful software, such as Microsoft Money & Acrobat reader.
Overall, I LOVE this computer and think I'll get more than my moneys worth from it. I'm so glad I found this computer, and took a chance on it. My only regret is not having bought a Sony Vaio sooner than now.
