Kengo is a game where you strive to be the finest sword master. Although this game is not made for everyone, it definitely suits the folks it was intended for. Overall it's a very addicted and fun game.

Game play & replay-----> 10/10
The awesome thing about this game is that you get to select from 3 players and train them to how you want. You start off in a dojo learning the basics and at first it's a little awkward because you don't know much, nor have much speed, agility, power, etc. But once you leave your dojo that all changes because you have the power and free will to power and charge up your fighter with numerous training drills. All the while you are training you also can challenge schools to get their sword. This helps bring up your abilities as well as the training, and it also teaches you new moves. After you've fought most of the schools you'll have lots of moves to choose from to create your attacks, which you can select from during a fight. After beating all the schools you have the chance to enter the Imperial Match, which is a big tournament and may take awhile to actually beat. Once you've fully beaten it your master will attack you, if you can beat him you gain mastership of the school. Then of course, people challenge you and try to take back the swords, as well as more tournaments coming up. All throughout the game are numerous surprises, opponents to unlock, different weapons to use, and angry losers challenging you in the street.
It has a high replay value because you can always start over and train a new guy. Also, the character you've trained can be used in the regular tournament mode and vs. mode if it is saved.

Sound -----------------> 8/10
The sound effects and kias (yells) were really cool in this game. It actually differentiates between real metal swords and wooden bokkens! Overall, where ever you're fighting or training you can hear the appropriate noises and sounds, which is all really great. I only wish the kias (yells) were slightly different between players and fighters and that the death yells weren't so over emphasized so much.

Graphics---------------> 10/10
Everything looks awesome in this game: the scenery, the fighters, the moves, the blood and animation of your opponent getting hit and flying or falling, etc..

Control----------------> 10/10
You can block, attack, switch attacks, parry, roll, back flip, run, and more easily with the controls. By the time youre done with your initial training at the dojo you'll have your controls mastered, and as you increase your stats you'll become faster, more agile, and capable of parrying quicker.

Challenge--------------> 10/10
At every stage of the game there will still remain a decent challenge for you. Even if you have high stats you can get beaten. Power & speed aren't everything; you still have to be good with control, distance, timing, and keeping your spirit up.

Plot-------------------> 8/10
Each of the three characters has a story, but they don't weave it in too much in the game. This may bug some people a lot, but to me it really doesn't matter that much: you want to become the sword master so you train to become better and fight with other sword students, hoping to improve and win the Imperial Match. I would have preferred a little more story involved, but I'm not that picky.

Overall and whether you should buy it or not.
This game is intended for a specific audience group, not necessarily for everyone. If you like sword fight simulations with action and a little blood, this game is for you. I recommend you to rent it for a weekend and try it: you'll either really love it or dislike it. I haven't found anyone that hated it yet (except on X Box), so overall it's a good choice.
