The Bottom Line 3dfx couldn't stand the heat, so it got out of the kitchen.
As much as I like 3dfx products (and have one in my machine right now) I've got to give this one to NVidia. 3dfx could have been a major contender if they were able to manage the business end better. 3dfx was the major innovator in the graphics world with the voodoo chipset. I still remember the first time I saw Tomb Raider on a voodoo card. But through a series of bad business decisions and constant pressure from NVidia, they have finally gone the way of the dinosaurs. Nvidia is now the undisputed leader of the 3d graphics arena, and shows no signs of slowing down. After seeing video of the geforce3 in action, I must bow down to NVidia. My next card will be some flavor of geforce.
