| discojunky's Full Review: Mambo Digital P353-SD (20 GB) Digital Media Player |
The Mambo P353SD is great device! As an MP3 player, MP3 recorder and portable hard drive, is the one that does all the job and it does it very well. The sound play back quality is very clear and soild, only let down by the earplugs provided. A good set of Sony or Senns will fix it. The MP3 recorder is very easy to use a single press on the rec button encodes into MP3 on the go at 64kbps or 160kbs from a CD player. Shame there is no 128kbs option. But with 20GB of storage 160kbps is more then enough. As a portable hard drive is a nice feature to have, USB 2.0 and instant Win XP compatibility and no software installation - what can be simplier? plug it in and of you go. Liken by the size it's a little bigger and plasticer then Creative ZEN. But it's not all that bad and feels much lighter and firmer to hold in your hands, but ideally the P353 belongs in the bag. The SD memory card, I don't use. But also a good thing to have if you have an SD digital camera, only tricky part is opening the lid which surposely seals the until from dust. The SD is also a reader and writer so it can transfer other data including MP3 files between the P353SD and the PC without pluging the USB cable. There still some bugs but nothing major and so far the firmwares resolve most of the issues.
