Things have changed since then... (Reply to this comment)

I wrote a review of my (painful) process of trying to find a satellite internet provider. Please let me know how I can improve it, or just post comments here on epinions. Information is bliss! http://dand.net/satellite-internet.htm

Satellite Internet NOT what it's cracked up to be! (Reply to this comment)
by tootall1953
Congrats to tejones for finding a good reliable satellite internet company! I did not. I signed up for Wild Blue ( Gotsky.com ) for an 18 month contract and am very dissapointed. I was getting better and faster connections on NetZero with a dial up. And I am paying $50 per month!
Wild Blue is a joke!. I live in Phoenix and bad weather is rare but anytime you have a dust cloud or storm cloud looming your service is OUT!
When I called for service with GOTSKY or Wild Blue 1 month later did I get a service tech to respond to my problems. They are contract service providers and could care less about fast response. And since I own the equipment I would have to pay for the service call. Not a good deal.
Only if I couldn't get a land line at my house would I consider getting satellite ISP.
All in all, I would encourage people not to use Wild Blue. You are better off and less frustrated with dial up. If you have the opportunity to get cable or DSL where you live, get it.

Clear view of the southern sky with NO clouds (Reply to this comment)

Really good review. I just wanted to add that if you live in an area like the Pacific Northwest with a lot of cloud cover, you will be relying on dialup alot. You lose the satellite. So clear view means no clouds. We don't lose our TV satellite, just the internet.
