The first noticeable asset for the laptop is shear speed. With a 2.4 GHz Pentium 4 processor loading up Windows XP takes seconds and restarting is even faster. The Dell 250n also boasts a mega 512MB Ram which is more than enough to run a multitude of applications. The laptop can also cope with a variety of graphics such as DirectX 9.0 games. The 32Mb ATi Graphics card is good enough for most high spec desktops, let alone laptops, and is therefore more than adequate to play games, movies and various multimedia.

The laptop has a massive 15.1" XVGA TFT monitor, which can handle a resolution of 1400x1050!! With the integrated DVD player (8X) watching movies on this laptop is great. Like most high specification laptops nowadays, the Dell has an intergrated DVD/CDRW ROM (8x24x16x24x) so creating your own cd's is not a problem.

The remaining highlights include the typical Dell connectivity such as 2 USB ports, PCMICA slots, S-Video Out, Serial ports etc. The 250n also has integrated Network(10/100), Modem(56k V90) and Floppy Drive.

With all this going for it, is there anything that lets the Laptop down? Well the simple answer is yes, the sound. The speakers on this laptop are simply too quiet, although when using headphones the sound is fine. In addition the laptop is quite bulky, but with the mighty 2.4Ghz processor, the size may be expected.

Overall the Laptop can cope fantastically with the typical use. Storage, Graphics, Connectivity and Power are the laptops strongest features. The Dell SmartStep is also very affordable for its quality and is typically backed up by Dell's very own warranty. The laptop has very few bad points and fails to deliver on sound quality, but apart from that, it's an excellent buy!!!
