| riptide13's Full Review: Weber Genesis Gold B Premium (LP) Grill |
Count me in with the Weber crowd. When I moved into my house 4 years ago I bought a Sunbeam Grill Master on clearance for about $179. Every single Spring I had to call Sunbeam to get a new burner because all the drippings would eat away at the piece of crap material they used for the burner. My grill quickly became known as The Horns of Hell, nicknamed as such for the two flaming horns that shot out of both ends of the spent burner. I used to have to build a teepee of briquettes to make sure I could spread the flame and not torch my hair and the trees above me!!! Well, this year I come to find out, Sunbeam isnt making grills any longer (gee I wonder why?) and they now conveniently dont return emails or calls for help on where to find burners.
So, this year I said to hell with it. I researched quite a bit and finally settled on the Weber Gold B. I looked at the Silver series as well, but was willing to spend the extra $100 to get the all Stainless Steel Hood and components. My only regret? That I didnt throw my old grill off my deck sooner. Weber is fantastic, not only for quality construction but also for ingenious design. Those Flavorizer bars are DA BOMB. I dont have any flare-ups and my burner isnt getting food drippings all over it. I love the stainless steel cooking grates that came with it as well. Ive heard people say it doesnt sear as well (Cast iron is the best for that) but Ive seared steak after steak with no problems. The assembly took me 30 minutes, but 10 minutes was spent reversing from not reading the directions first! Another great feature is that it has a scale to tell you how much gas is left in your tank and it's so simple to change to a new tank.
My friends and family all have the Silver Series grills and they all love them as well. You really can't go wrong with a Weber. This will be the only grill you have to buy for a long time. It's well worth the cost. Just buy it already!
