The Bottom Line See all of these modern horror monster classics.
Here are what I consider to be the greatest modern monster movies. Only one of them was made before the 70's, but it's really awesome.
1. AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON: Great horror-comedy by John Landis. While on a European tour, 2 college students are attacked by a werewolf. One is killed but the other has something more to worry about because now the full moon brings out the beast in him! The greatest werewolf movie ever with the best effects.
2. THE RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD: Another horror-comedy. A gas made by the military leaks out into a cemetery and causes all the corpses to come to life and attack the punks who are partying there. Scary and funny at the same time.
3. KING KONG(1933): The original big monkey classic. A group of film makers travel to an island to make a movie but instead find a giant ape. They pack him up and ship him to New York where, of course, he busts loose and causes havoc.
4. JAWS: Very scary movie about a great white shark terrorizing a small New England town. A water fearing police chief, an oceanographer, and a modern day Ahab must now stop it.
5. FROM DUSK TILL DAWN: Two criminal brothers kidnap a family on their way to safety in Mexico following a bank robbery. Once in Mexico the brothers and family stop at a bar that happens to be run by ancient Aztec vampires!
6. DEAD-ALIVE: Lionel's mom has just been bitten by the cursed sumerian rat monkey and now she's a flesh craving zombie who goes around eating townspeople. The goriest movie ever made is also the greatest horror-comedy ever.
7. CUJO: A saint bernard dog is bitten by a rabid bat and is now going on a rampage through town. He even traps a mom and her son in a broken down pinto. Based on the novel by Stephen King.
8. THE HOWLING: After a news lady is attacked by a rapist, she decides to go to a resort place for people needing peace. Unfortunately, almost everyone there is a werewolf.
9. THE LOST BOYS: A mom and her 2 sons have just moved to Santa Carla. But, don't you know it, the town is the murder capital of the world and home to a gang of vampires.
10. GREMLINS: A bunch of little green monster things terrorize a town on Christmas Eve.
