when purchasing home automation equipment there are very few places to choose from. the two main places are smarthome and x.10.com. i have ordered from both so this may help to review smarthome a little better than others. i found the smarthome website to be difficult to navigate. there are only a few menus and to find what you are looking for you almost have to know EXACTLY what you are looking for. they give you a few popular choices and then if you want something else be prepared for an easter egg hunt! i ordered 2 mini controllers and three lamp modules, which i found after some searching (and i did know exactly what i wanted!!). with this i planned on using it to get a taste for home automation having never really found out much about it. i ordered and 5 days later got my package that was 2-3 days delivery. a little late, but no big deal. one thing i will give them kudos for, the equipment was very nicely packaged. nice box, foam peanuts, those little air bags and wrapped in foam. it looked like you could have ran over it with the ups truck and it would have survived! everything i ordered was in there, and it all worked very well, and now my whole house is automated! i do find smarthome to be more expensive on most stuff but most of it is nicer and higher quality too. if you are just getting into home automation there is some good info on their website, but their prices are too high. if you are doing a new house or a high end install this would be the place to go, otherwise look around. welcome to the cool world of home automation!!
