Learn HTML in a weekend is a great book for those people who do not know much about making web sites but who want to quickly put up thier own site or page. The book shows most of the tags and code for HTML and explains each in a way that most people should understand.
However, this book doesn not cover much in the area of advanced HTML or coding. It shows very primitive and basic HTML. While this book might be good for a child or a beginner, it is not something you would want to get an experienced webmaster or website designer.
One of the greatest features of this book is the software included on the CD that comes packaged with the book. This software included the very lucrative paint shop pro (a demo version), image map maker, FTP for putting your site on the web, and many more useful tools for web designers. The CD might be the main reason to buy the whole book as it includes about 20 different useful software titles. Most of them are demos, but others are full versions that can be used forever.
A downside to the book is that its title can be decieving. Most people will find that it takes longer than a weekend to read (unless of course they read for hour after hour all weekend long.)
I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to get started making a web page or site but doesn't know how to. If they want to learn advanced web design techniques then they should look for a different book as this one covers just the basics of HTML. This is a good book for the price with some great software that may be worth the price itself.
