I have ordered so many things on shopping sites and have not had too many bad experiences. Notice I said too many. Even one bad experience can turn you off of shopping on line forever. One of the most important things that I have learned is NEVER EVER place an order on a site where you do not see the padlock down on the right-hand corner of the task bar. This means that the site is not secure and other people can get the information that you are giving out. This includes information with your address on it and also your credit card number. There are still sites that are advertising and they are not secure. I ran across one just yesterday. I was going to order a cosmetic set that I thought was a good deal and there was not a padlock in the section that was asking for any of my personal information, including my credit card number. They lost a sale because there was no way I was going to continue with the order without it being a secure site. Another Important thing to know and I learned this the hard way, and I really feel stupid about this. But if the site is slow and you are trying to place your order. Hit the submit order button only once. Otherwise every time you hit it, especially if you hit the back browser button, you are placing the same order. I did this and an order that would have cost me $5.00 ended up costing me hundred’s of dollars. Or I should say it would have cost me hundreds had I not called the company and my bank. This happened when one of the sites that sends me hot deals sent me a hot deal and they of course sent it to hundreds maybe thousands of other people. We were all trying to order at the same time. This did not just happen to me but it happened to others. Don’t order from sites that are rinky dink looking. Or sites that you do not know are reputable. It is best to ask others if they have ordered from these sites. There are search engines and a lot of times you can see on these what people think of a particular shopping site. Epinions is not one of them since they do not have these in a category as yet. Shopping on the Internet has made shopping so much more convenient. While I was on vacation, I did some Internet shopping on my daughter’s computer. So if you find a favorite place to shop you can do it as long as you have Internet access and do it from any place in the world. Security is the most important consideration when shopping. Good prices do not mean anything if your credit card is stolen. It defeats the whole convenience of the shopping.  |
