| derailius's Full Review: Epson Stylus Photo 820 Inkjet Printer |
This is a great printer for the price. It doesn't have all the fancies and best that it doesn't. What it does do is deliver very clean and crisp photos that will be very worthy to frame. I was amazed when doing some business letters as to how crisp the text was. Not one hint of fuzziness along the edges. The thing that is so impressive with this unit is the price and the results. The results will have you thinking that this came out of a higher end printer. The software is a no-brainer. It is very intuitive as software should be. Also, inkjets won't send you into the poor house. After market inkjets work very well and command a price of $4.00 for black and $7.00-8.00 for color.
One should always consider the cost of the inkjets before buying a printer. Consider the cost of after market cartridges for Lexmark and be prepared to pay at least $23.00 for black and $30.00 + for color. YIKES. The high cost of inkjets will surely take the fun out of taking photos but not the case with the 820 Photo. The one thing that I would like to change on this unit is to move the controls to the front. Also, I have used Epson in my business for 6 years and never had a problem whereas both HP's broke down within 2 years. Keep in mind, any repair on a out of warranty HP will set you back $100. That would include just replacing 1 screw. Epson have always have been a very durable printer and the 820 Photo is no different at a price that is hard to beat!
