| honet's Full Review: Canon S9000 InkJet Printer |
The epinion reviews helped me in my decision to purchase the Canon S9000 six months ago. I have not been disappointed.
I got it to make quality prints from my digital camera. The print quality on glossy paper is superb, although if you look carefully at some of your prints you may notice some minute banding. And this thing is fast, real fast.
And this thing is huge, you will lose a lot of desk space to this monster - but it's worth it when you see your beautiful prints.
I have been testing the different glossy papers from HP, Canon and Kodak. The Canon Photo Pro Glossy paper 6x4's deliver awesome prints from this machine. Other brands were not so good. The Kodak Ultima glossy paper 6x4(oversize with the tab) had a bad habit of jamming regularly in my S9000. Although easily fixed its frusttrating.
The S9000 comes with some software, but I have not bothered to use it, so I have no comment there.
This thing was easy to set up and get going straight away, and it has been a very reliable printer for me. As per the norm for inkjets, ink is very expensive. But I got a lot more printing done than I thought I would before having to install new cartridges. I havent tried any refills on it so no comment there either.
The S9000 delivers excellent prints which I have been extremely happy with, but because it is an inkjet they are not perfect - but comes pretty close. I got to try a Dye Sub one day.
If you want large quality prints then the S9000 is a great choice.
UPDATE APRIL 2004 - It has been over a year and the S9000 is going as good as ever, the only problem so far has been with the prints fading - so get them in a frame or laminated quick and they should last good.
