| saleenadam's Full Review: Epson Stylus C82 Inkjet Printer |
When I saw that a store in Houston was selling this printer for $40 I had to do a little research to figure out if it was a good deal. Everywhere else was selling for more than twice the price and the reviews weren't bad on the printer so I decided to get one. I had an old Epson Stylus 740 which I think is a real piece of **** so I was weary of another Epson. This one is MUCH better than the old luckily. Here is the areas I think are of interest to anyone considering this printer.
Speed This printer is very fast using color or black and white, it spits out pages so much faster than my old Epson its ridiculous. I wouldnt count on achieving the 22ppm rated on the box, but I get around 10 pages of black and white text.
Software I had problems the first two times installing the software on my Windows XP Pro. When the disc got to the agree/disagree screen it froze and I had to ctrl alt del to get it to stop and then try again. Eventually I got it to install and the software works fine now. I like the fact that options are easily accessible when printing for different things such as draft, text, photo, etc. to choose how much ink you will use.
Quality Of Prints Very good for color and black and white. I only print various Microsoft Office documents, web pages, graphics, and cd labels though not photos so I have no opinion on photo quality.
Ink Costs Not very expensive since you only have to fill the colors you run out of not just a cartridge for color and one for black. Im not sure how long an ink cartridge lasts since im yet to replace one, however its probably close to the rated amount.
Size Its about the same size as most printers on the market except for the smaller HP printers. Its comparable to most Canons and Epsons, but size shouldnt be a problem unless you travel with youre printer for some reason.
Noise Not as loud as my old Epson but it makes some noise, about what youd expect out of a printer. Its not noisy at all when printing but loading paper makes a little racket.
Connection Doesnt contain anything to connect to the computer with, but USB cables are cheap so it shouldnt be a big problem.
