We are doing some re-modeling work at our house. The first project on my husband's list has been working on our older son's bedroom. The room is huge and we wanted to make it half our son's bedroom and half a den. So we decided that we wanted to put up paneling, install new windows and replace the ceiling fan. So everything is almost done and coming to a finish. There are three windows in the bedroom and my husband has replaced one of them so far. So in the meantime we don't have any curtains or blinds up. So I told my husband that we had to cover the windows up so our son would feel comfortable. So he taped up these huge pieces of paper that he had to cover it up.
The Big Problem...
When my husband took the tape off that was holding the covering for the windows it took pieces of the paneling off with it. To our horror we had little places all around where there was no color on the paneling. My husband was thinking that he would have to replace that part of the paneling which was going to be a major pain.
So we decided to go to Walmart to see if we might find something that would work to cover up the mess that he had made. We found the Minwax Wood Finish Stain Marker which we weren't sure would work or not. For the price though we knew it was worth a try.
Would it work???
Thankfully for us it worked beautifully. My husband shook the marker well and then tried it out. It was very easy to use and worked well in covering up what he had messed up. I thought the smell would be horrible, but it was very mild compared to what I thought it would be like. Paint tends to give me migraines, but this marker didn't bother me a bit. I was in the room while my husband was doing the touch up work.

(from the package)
Shake marker well. Remove cap and depress tip gently a few times on scrap paper or wood to start stain flowing. Apply stain to wood. If needed, wipe excess with clean cloth. Replace cap tightly after use. Store marker on side. If tip dries out or hardens after extended storage, remove tip and soak in mineral spirits overnight.
Danger! Keep Away From Kids!
(from the package)
Contains mineral spirits. May cause eye, nose and throat irritation. Avoid contact with eyes. Use only with adequate ventilation. Do not breathe vapors. Skin irritant. Avoid contact with skin. Combustible. Do not use or store near heat, sparks, flame or other source of ignition. When using, do not smoke. Close container after each use.
Also on the back package I saw something interesting. There is a warning that says that this product contains chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. So I would not use this product if I were pregnant or nursing.
The pen itself is like a typical painter marker size. It is 1/3 fl. oz (9.9 mL). The stain is permanent. It dries very fast almost instantly.

Final Thoughts:
I am thrilled that we found the Minwax Wood Finish Stain Marker. It has saved my husband a lot of time and headache of not having to replace the paneling around the windows. This is a very inexpensive way to touch up scratches or flaws in any wood items around your house. I would suggest testing it out on a small area first just to make sure the color is all right. We had a scrap piece that we could try it out on first. I was glad to see that the Minwax Wood Finish Stain Marker did not run also. My husband was thrilled with our purchase for the day. He doesn't get too excited about a lot of things, but his comment about this was "I love this thing"!
We found this in the paint section at our local Walmart for under $4. What a deal! Just remember to keep away from children because it could be deadly if it got into the wrong hands.
