Disney Movies & Their Twisted Plots... -.-Mar 19 '01 Write an essay on this topic. The Bottom Line If possible, children should learn about the original stories. Disney can be creative and magical as long as it doesn't carry children away. Disney Animated Movies... I understand very well that Disney is a big group that promotes thrilling/ educational animation for young people. But because they promote animation for young children, they stretch/ add on lot of the truth in stories. Disney retells their version of the story through beautiful animation, enchanting music, lovable characters, and revised plots. I understand that they strive to make their films appropriate for children when they revise the plots, but at times it makes me quite angry. I am especially disappointed in many of the featured films like Mulan, Pocahontas, The Little Mermaid, Beauty & the Beast... Gosh, there is Sooo many to name. Practically all of them... Most of those stories were actually very exciting... until Disney revises them. They destroy the essence and true legend of the tales. I have always loved Mulan (the more accurate version). But in the Disney version, they all turn so "magical" that I despise them. The Huns didn't "pop out of the snow like daisies" and how did they survive such avalanches... Well, I do have to admit that many of the stories that Disney revised were kind of gory. So I guess they had no choice. The children enjoy them. They love Disney movies, not realizing how the original version is like. And hey, Disney movies aren't quite made for adults like me anyways, so why am I complaining..? It just really disturbs me to watch such wonderful tales transformed to twisted MAGICAL/ educational films. Bah... I really value those tales, and truly wish for children to learn about the original fairy tales before being enchanted by the twisted versions of Disney. |
