I have been using a Toshiba Satellite Pro 4300 series for four months. It is a solid computer that can take a lot of abuse. I have travel extensively with it and without any special travel container. The computer still almost looks and acts new. It is a solid piece of equipment.
Some of the other benefits are that it comes with just about everything. There is a built-in DVD player, 3.5 floppy drive, and 56K modem. The battery lasts about two hours playing a DVD title. I purchased a second battery to get more use while I am in the air.
This is a great laptop for someone that travels occasionally but mainly uses it for the office. That is because this thing is big and heavy. It is nearly two inches think and weighs about 9 pounds. It is a real pain to lug around while traveling. Even my travel bag complains about its size and weight by barely letting me closes it when the laptop is inside.
Personally I prefer a much smaller laptop like a 3-pound Sony Vaio. Although the Sony has a tiny screen, keyboard, and nothing built-in, it is no thicker than a quality notepad. But laptop preferences are highly personal and some people hate cramped keyboards so I highly recommend that you sample some laptops before making a decision.
