I'd actually like to change the review to helpful (Reply to this comment)

You did include a lot of information in your review. I happen to disagree with the price vs. what you get but that has nothing to do with the inordinate amount of information you provided. If you'll give me a hint as to how to change the review (sorry, bad allergy day), I'd be glad to.

If their profit is twice as high on the RS then something's wrong. The higher price should easily cover the additional cost they have in the car.
For a driver who gets a lot out of the additional performance of the turbo, then the WRX is worth the additional money. Otherwise I continue to believe the completely overshadowed RS is worth a look.
You have pointed out a few differences between the RS and WRX that was not aware of. These help to further justify the WRX's additional cost.

Nice review! (Reply to this comment)

Quite informative.
I personally disagree with the price:what-you-get difference between the RS and WRX, but that's splitting hairs. It ought to be mentioned that simply upgrading mechanical components from an RS to a WRX would likely cost upward of $10k (if you did the labour yourself) for an end user (brakes, exhaust manifold & piping, turbo, intercooler, engine block, suspension, front side curtain airbags, foglights, seats).
Of course, it wouldn't cost SOA the same amount to upgrade the parts for you (and you wouldn't have old stuff laying around), but I don't think they're raking in the dough on the WRX as compared to the RS. I'd heard their profit per car was at least double for the RS as compared to the WRX for 2002.
Just my $.02 worth. (=

Suzuki has never done terribly well at the various quality surveys to begin with. But I doubt they've had much impact on Daewoo, at least not so soon.

I've also been following the intro of the Verona. Suzuki is backing it with their 7-year powertrain transferable warranty, certainly an interesting proposition if it is only the car engineered by Daewoo. However, I have been given to understand that Suzuki engineers have been there in Korea tooling and working on the line a la the Suzuki- GM joint venture in Canada. I'm not an insider, though.

I've never driven the Aerio. The styling kills that one. I also don't see performance anywhere near a WRX.
I am interested in looking at the Verona, a six-cylinder sedan from Daewoo.

Michael -- Since you check out so many cars, I thought I might mention that Suzuki has upped the horsepower and displacement on its sporty little inexpensive Aerio for 2004. Certainly would be interested in your thoughts -- not a WRX, of course, but being positioned as a cheaper alternative.
Great review, as usual.

Re: Excellent Review...as always (Reply to this comment)

The latest reviews are just repostings of old reviews that are no longer visible because Epinions (with still no notice) made all the trim-level listings invisible to the public. The right idea, but as usual the execution sucks.
That said, I test drive a lot fo cars each fall. Maybe 40-50 a year.
