As a consultant and regular user of a laptop while traveling, I have found the AlphaSmart 3000 serves as an excellent companion while "on the road." The ability to function for several hundred hours on AAA batteries provides incredible convenience while flying - when most laptops seldom last more than a couple of hours on their rechargeable batteries. It's compatibility with the MAC OS was critical for me - and suggests a company that recognizes the value of a unit that can work with a number of platforms.

A company representative was very willing and able to answer all of my questions prior to the purchase (if you call during regular business hours) and the unit was shipped promptly.

Finally, as pointed out in another review, the AlphaSmart 3000 does one thing and it does it well: word processing. As someone who can find a number of "distractions" on my laptop (internet, ebay, games, etc!) the AlphaSmart keeps me focused on the writing projects I need to complete.
