The Bottom Line The internet is packed with information, and the majority of it is free.

Let me tell you a little story about what happened to my when I was still a novice online. I had been using the Internet for about a month or so, and I decided to try and start up an online wrestling newsletter. It was a great success and I was gaining an average of 30-40 subscribers a week. Everything was going great for a while, until one day I was in a chat with several subscribers. I told them that after a few more months, I was going to start charging a few dollars for the newsletter. Well there were about 20 people in the chat room, and all of them, every single one, laughed at me. This is when I got my first taste of the power the Internet had. (And if you're interested in knowing, the newsletter fell apart due to unrelated matters)

So with our modern marvels, the whole way we get news has changed. If you're looking for current events on a specific sport, event, or non-mainstream item, you can now find it with a quick trip to a search engine. If you want local news, more and more cities, communities, and public facilities are opening websites. You can go there and find more information and details than you could anywhere else about that specific area. Or maybe you want up to the minute, worldwide news. Oh...well I guess you'll just have to...wait a minute. What's that up ahead? It's Cnn.com!

What I'm trying to say is that the traditional way of getting news, papers, magazines, TV news shows, are still fine and dandy. But Internet news has many advantages. It can be faster, easier to find specifics, sometimes more reliable, and most importantly free! Go to any newsboards and you'll see offers for newsletters emailed to you at no cost. Go to any major news site and they're more up to date than your local news, without commercials.

So why, why oh why I ask, would you pay to receive news online? That's like paying for a newspaper when they're being handed out free. The Internet is a connection to the entire world. Use it! You can find just about anything on anything online. And the best part is, you find it when you want. No longer do you have to wait for your local news to come on, you can just go to their site and read the top stories. News is changing, and more of it is becoming free.
