The Bottom Line Overall watch for signs, dry nights, give plenty of praise, keep your patience, and no matter what don't spank them.

Potty training can be an extremely frustrating phase, so the best thing I learned to do was to be very patient. If your child is showing some of these signs then most likely he or she is ready to begin potty training. Most kids show signals around the age of two. The key to success is to not push or force your child.

.Can stay dry for several hours during the day:
.sometimes wakes up dry in the morning and afternoon naps.
.Has bowel movements at predicable times.
.Asks to be changed when he has soiled or wet a diaper.
.Takes an interest in the bathroom habits of other family members.
.Asks to use the potty.

If my husband wasn’t home my litte girl would always go to the bathroom with me. (I was always afraid that she would get hurt if unattended) I think her going with me really helped her. When she was 18 months old she backed up to the commode, wanting to get up there. I put her on the comode and sure enough she had to go. My husband and I gave her lots of hugs and kisses.

My husband and I went shopping for a potty chair that weekend. (We bought her one that could also be attached to the commode.) Every time I went to the bathroom I would take her with me. She done really good for about a month using her potty, and then all of the sudden she just lost all interest in it.

When she turned two I started trying to get her interested in using her potty again. I went and bought her big girl panties. She acted so big in her little teletubbies panties.

I started the whole process all over again. She acted more interested in the big potty instead of her little one. I started putting her on the comode and she would use it occasional.

So at this point I was only using pampers at night and during naps. She got to where she was wetting her panties all day. So I decided on getting her training pants. This didn’t seem to work, she wanted to wet in her pull-ups like a diaper.

When she was about 25 months old I notice that her diaper would be dry in the mornings. At first I thought something was wrong. After talking to my mother she told me that was a sign of being ready to be potty trained. This was unusual because normally they master daytime wetting first.

I read a article on potty training and it said not to use training pants, diapers and panties all together because this confuses them. At 251/2 months old I started using
panties only no more diapers or pull-ups. After 2 weeks of wetting herself many, many times a day, Finally one morning she just woke up and started using the potty.

My little girl had already been potty trained for about 6 months, when all of sudden she begin wetting herself alot for about a week, followed by a fever. I took her to the doctor and she had a kidney infection. That was the reason for her wetting herself. So if you experience these problems do not ignore, because it can be something serious.
