No Horsing Around, we love Pony Pals!

Written: Mar 01 '01
Pros:Nice stories for young girls; increased vocabulary
Cons:none..even if child can't read well, these can be read to them
The Bottom Line: I highly recommend this series of books for young girls who are beginning to read chapter books, especially if they like animals.

This is a series of books geared toward young girls. Even though the theme is a Pony Club, you don't have to own one to enjoy the stories. My second-grade daughter is thrilled to be reading her first chapter books! These books help to increase her vocabulary, because they hold her interest enough to want to know the words.
The stories center around three friends - Anna, Lulu, and Pam - and many adventures involving their ponies. There is usually something good to be learned, whether it's how to make a new friend, the responsibility of taking care of a pet, or just being kind.
The first Pony Pals books we ordered were through the school's book club, and my daughter got a great package for the price: Three books, two little horse figurines and pieces of fence, bookmarks, a little journal, and some other fun things, along with the opportunity to join the "club". We signed up, and now my daughter receives two new books each month, and a new horse figurine.
All I know is, my daughter is reading much more, now that she has her Pony Pals!
