What do you want to get from your trip ?Mar 22 '01 Write an essay on this topic. The Bottom Line Are you dreaming of the wild crazy life and sleepless city? Come here if you say yes. Still - come here if you say no. I have to begin my advice with that question. Thailand has been changed dramatically for the past decade. Tourists who expect the asian exotic lifestyle must be surprised since the first step you get here. To begin with , we have the high reputation of having many beautiful , unique , and exotic temples - the first place I recommend would be "the Grand Palace" the temple and the palace that was built since the era of King Rama I. It's such a creativity of arts and architecture. Apart from the Grand Palace , there are still many nice temples , such as Wat Poh , Wat Arun (which both are in the same area with the grand palace) Another popular topic for Thailand is the wild night life. Place like "Patpong" is very well known for being the night market which selling both the products and the "flesh-and-bone" if you know what I mean. Many places like patpong has been risen in the past few years , like Nana ,Thaniya , or Soi Cowboy. Also you can choose to go to see many backpackers enjoy watching the movies while sipping their beer along "Kaosan Road". My recommendation for the people who loves Thai culture is to go to see Muay Thai as we know as Thai kickboxing. Quite violent but also interesting. The thing that attracts tourists to come here most is our beaches. We have many nice beaches. I actually want to say we "had". This country has become too touristic and by that , I believe you can guess what happen with those nice beaches. You may close your eyes and dreaming about the nice beautiful quiet beach like you see in that Leonardo's movie "the Beach" , but you will have to open your eyes and surprised to see something which is more like "party on the beach". Still there are many nice beaches left. Koh Samet , Koh Phi phi , Koh Chang , Koh Tao , or most of the beach in Phuket apart from Pahtong - - those are still nice. But if you would prefer crowded beach with fascinated night life then try Koh Samui , Koh Phangan (well known about the "fullmoon-party") , Pattaya , or Haard Pahtong . For the people who enjoy simple oriental life, many provinces in the north or northeast are still very exotic. People are still so much friendly and being nice to you not because of your money. Like I say , the tourists' purpose and expectation from their trips to Thailand must be various. Many beautiful cultures and traditions are still remained while many has been forgotten with the influence of ourselves trying to gain as much money as possible from the tourist industry. You can pick which parts you want to see ... And choose what you want to get from your trips. |
