I am very glad to report that I have now owned this monitor for more than one year. So far it has performed flawlessly and still has the same picture quality as it did when I first bought it.

By nature I am a Sony nut and this monitor does sport a Trinitron picture tube, but we have not had really good luck with Trinitron monitors at the University where I work and attend. The monitors at school all tend to wash-out after about a year of use, but they are from Dell and not KDS. I have since learned that Dell tends to purchase various grades of tubes and this accounts for the difficulties I have seen.

I have never been a fan of Korean made electronics but my opinion is fluid these days. This monitor is one fine piece of craftsmanship. I was unable to find a single flaw in the chassis when I first set it up.

Since purchasing mine, I have recommended it to several friends. This is where my one con with the unit comes into play. A friend of mine who is a heavy smoker purchased this monitor. After a few months with it, a horrible crackling began to emanate from inside. Apparently the ground shield around the picture tube is very close and the tar and dust built-up in it fairly quickly and began causing sparks to fly. No problem for my friend, she called KDS and they sent one out right away and even paid the return shipping. A few months later the same thing began to happen again. This time KDS again sent out a new monitor but replaced it with a different model that was of equal value, but would survive in the presence of a heavy smoker. Once again they paid shipping both ways. Of course everyone knows that computers and cigarettes do not play well together but KDS did not even bring that up in a negative way.

I purchased my unit online, sight unseen. If you are interested in one I would suggest that you check them out at Best-Buy.. Then go home and order it for far less....
