| jvatt24's Full Review: Corsair Memory 2 x 128 MB PC3200 DDR RAM (TWINX51... |
After finding out that my old memory was faulty, I realized that cutting corners with cheap memory was a bad idea. I did a little research about the different memory manufactures and how important memory is to the system. At the top of just about any person's list of good manufactures was Corsair, both for its reliability and ability to overclock.
I choose this exact product because my motherboard can support dual channel memory which slightly improves performance. Also, 512MB is enough for any game out there right now and should be good for a while to come. Even though it was a big dent in my wallet, I didn't want to have to invest any more money for defected memory.
After a couple of days of waiting for the memory to arrive, I finally had it in my hands and ready to put into my system. Installation was easy enough, especially if you have any experience with computers. There were no directions at all, so they sort of expect you to be computer enthusiasts when buying this quality of memory. I finished the upgrade, put the computer back together, and booted it up.
When I entered the BIOS I saw that the computer had already detected the memory timings (2-3-2-6 as I remember) which are some of the best out there right now. There was nothing else I had to do, so I booted up Windows. Everything seemed to be going good so far, so I ran a few tests to confirm that the memory was good, which included memtest86. About 24 hours of testing later, there were still no errors.
All in all, I think this is some of the best memory to be made. If you can afford it, go for it as you won't have any regrets.
