Death be not plagiarized
by AngelaBar | Mar 23, 2001
Plagiarism is no laughing matter. The words you steal belong to someone else's soul.

"I'm not saying that stay-at-home-moms can't know a lot about medical topics, or that they couldn't do the research, but some of the reviews I have seen appeared a little "too good" if you know what I mean."

Think about it this way.

A Mother usually only stays at home if their husband has a well enough job to support the family himself. So, the mother isn't forced to work to help support the family.

The chance of the husband being a Professional is pretty large, like a Physician or Pharmacist.

So maybe, there is a slight chance that they pickup the information from their husband, or maybe the husband writes under their wife's username. I know quite a few people share Email accounts and memberships at Ebay.

Of course, old sayings exist that claim Mothers are the best Doctors. They are usually the ones that observe how well the medicine works or when it something is serious enough to see a Physician, or Dentist about.

If Wally was stealing from you, who knows what else he was doing?

What goes around comes around.

Just think, it is too late to say he is sorry or change his behavior. At least all of us have second chances still!

And he still has to answer for his actions eventually.......

Great article, Angela!

I catch plagiarizers all the time (Reply to this comment)
by radioguy
Most plagiarizers, or at least the ones I spot, don't steal a whole piece but, rather, they take a couple of sentences here and there. I have a pretty good ear for a writer's voice, not like you even need that much sensitivity usually to catch it.

You know, if the tone suddenly changes, like:

Both Bert and I commented that our skin was looking much less redder and we had not broke out for three days. It worked good and my skin was smoother though Bert didn't notice it. The Biore skin lotion product provides a smooth yet refreshing facial experience, exfoliating as it gently tingles, yet leaving a pleasant patina of rosebushes.

You can articulate what I just sputter over. I share your annoyance with those stupid 100-word "reviews" that flood the Just-In. What's worse is I found a member who plagiarizes AND plagiarizes Somewhat Helpful reviews. Hello?!?!

Anyway, a hilarious and expertly written essay. AMEN SISTER from me!

...but I'd rather not be imitated (or plagiarized!). Great article, should be required first-time epinionator reading!

I imagine (Reply to this comment)

it probably goes on more than people could possibly pick up on... That has been my only issue with posting on the net. It's just too easy for someone to steal your words - That was a bit tragic - the person's death and I'm glad you didn't dishonor a dead person's memory. After all is said and done, life is a chance... so I post and just hope that no one likes anything enough to steal it... Smiles and I loved this review... Your writings are always so graceful. In my imagery of you, I imagine you are too... Best, Gina

A beautiful perspective on this issue. It's so nice to see an article on this important issue that isn't just a rant. Wonderfully done. I'll have to read more of your articles.

Plagiarism is a big problem (Reply to this comment)

I spend most of my time on medical topics (reading, writing, and rating). One thing I've noticed is that there are some really great medical epinions out there. Well written, very informative, and with lots of detail. Now, some of these are written by medical students or other physicians. However, I keep stumbling on some that are written by SAHMs or other people who have jobs outside the medical field.

I'm not saying that stay-at-home-moms can't know a lot about medical topics, or that they couldn't do the research, but some of the reviews I have seen appeared a little "too good" if you know what I mean.

Maybe I'm just crazy.

Thanks for sharing.
