The Bottom Line Just do your research and compare the options.
Okay, I have done the research, tried different products, and spent too much money, but I now have a PDA that I'm happy with. Yes, I wanted a Palm Pilot. But MY GOD they are expensive. I know, I know, they have cool software and are pretty user friendly. But did I mention that they are EXPENSIVE??? Anyway, as a substitute I purchased a Compaq palm top computer. This little machine looks like a tiny laptop and it carries MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Explorer. However, the screen on it is a little hard to read, the battery goes dead about every 6 hours, and it's a little to big to be really convenient. So, when my new employer offered to buy me a new PDA I took full advantage. The only snag was that they would only reimburse me up to $100. So, off i went, to Office Depot. After some comparison and consulting the in-store "expert" I decided to go with the Casio PV-400Plus. Well, suprisingly enough, this little gem has been wonderful. It has most of the options of the Palm Pilot with only 4MB of memory. I have to say that this has served as alarm clock, meeting reminder, pager, organizer, entertainment, phone book, address book, and all around great help. It comes with software and a sync port to communicate with my PC so that I can type everything in and simply send it to the PDA. It is quite small enough to slip, undetected, into my pocket and the backlit screen reads beautifully. Also, since I have numerous meetings with Doctors every day, it seems to compete very nicely with all of their expensive Palm Pilots. I definitely suggest giving this PDA a chance if you need organization and you have a budget. |
