Tips:
1.) DON'T ORDER FROM THESE PEOPLE.
2.) If you have already ordered, as soon as you call them if there is a problem, raise your voice and complain ardently. You will be delivered to the "customer escalation line" which has better representatives with more power.
3.) Complain to higher level service representatives and your shipping will be upgraded for free and the charges waived.
I ordered a LG VX6000 and VerizonWireless service. I ordered through InPhonic because the phone was $50 cheaper than on the Verizon site and there were extra items bundled with the phone at no cost (like a car charger). I was told that the order would take 24 hours for the credit review, after which time the phone would be shipped within 24-48 hours.
It is now three weeks after I ordered and I do not have a phone. The first problem was the credit check. It took over a week. I checked the online link that they gave me after 24 hours to see the status. It originally said that I had been approved but had to pay a deposit. There was a link that said "click here to pay deposit," only, it didn't link to anywhere. Then I refreshed the page and it said that my credit check had not been completed. Then I refreshed the page again to see what was going on and this time it just didn't load.
Tired of the misinformation, I called customer service. They told me to wait and call back. Well, after three times they said that my order was subject to a manual credit review by verizon. So I waited a full week from my original order time to see if it would clear up; it didn't. I called InPhonic again. This time I yelled at the lower level representative (I'm not encouraging maltreatment of customer service reps). I got transfered to the "customer service escalation line." The representative there was capable and said the problem was that I had used a PO Box (I'm a college student). Once that was fixed, my phone was approved within three minutes while waiting on the phone.
Then the rep said that the phone I wanted was out of stock. She asked if I wanted a different phone. I said no because I didn't like any other phones. It has been two weeks and I have not gotten my phone. I have been lied to multiple times about when the phone will arrive. Additionally, the phone is not generally out of stock, as in there is no supply, Inphonic is just incompetent at getting any in stock.
I have been lied to, misled as to every time frame, and I feel defrauded of my time. I would like to drop the order with them but I am scared of screwing up my place in Verizon's system. Additionally, as a college student, my credit is not super strong, so I can't afford to apply for the phone through someone else because the InPhonic order lowers my credit already.
Please order from someone else
UPDATE
So after my disastrous experience I called Verizon Wireless directly to see if they could rectify the situation. Verizon turned out to be great http://www.epinions.com/content_187086048900 . Although they charged more for the phone they had it in stock. Additionally, they were able to use the previously verified credit check to get the order placed (if you have too many inquiries in a short time it lowers your FICO).
Additionally, the Verizon rep gave me a $25 referral credit even though I hadn't been referred just because he felt bad. Works for me . . .
So if you have a messed up order through these fools, just call the cellphone company directly to get your problem fixed.
