Pros: small size, packs a big punch, great features
Cons: headphones, USB plug cover flimsy, can't re-sample bit-rate with supplied software
The Bottom Line: Great player for the price. Its small and light enough to fit easily in a shirt pocket and not weigh it down. You won't be disappointed

| ee_man's Full Review: Mpio FL100 (128MB) MP3 Player |
The first thing i took notice to is the size of the player, it's perfect. Small and light enough to fit in any pocket comfortably, but big enough to have a descent size screen (3 lines).
I had read in some other reviews that there were concerns about the unit feeling cheap. I think this is due to the players light weight. While i don't think that it feels cheaply made, I can understand their concerns. As long as you don't plan on carrying around bowling ball in the same bag as the player, then i think you will be fine. I do, however, agree with the others that the USB plug cover is flimsy. I think it should be made of rubber or something more flexible.
The controls took a little bit to get used to, but once everything was used one time, there was no problem navigating through the player. The only thing I would change is the mode button to switch between FM tuner and MP3 mode. I can see how it is possible to accidentally switch between modes while the player is in a pocket or the like. I think this would work better if the function were controlled by either a switch or at least a recessed button so it isn't quite as easy to change modes unless it is on purpose (to be fair, you do have to hold the button in for a couple of seconds in order to change modes).
The headphones that came with it are not the best sounding and i found them uncomfortable, but i already had a good set of ear buds so that doesn't bother me at all. Also the case that comes with it is designed poorly, the edge of it pushes on the volume button, so you need to have the key hold on while in the case.
I had no problems with the software. It worked the first time with no glitches. Since I rip all of my music at 320kb/s, I would like the ability to re-sample the songs to a lower bit-rate like I could with Musicmatch for my old player. I should say too, that the reason i bought the 128meg player instead of the 256meg one is because i already have two 128meg smart media cards for my digital camera, so i didn't really need the large internal memory.
Overall, I found this to be a great player. It sounds as good you would expect from a digital music player, and the FM tuner is the best I've seen in such a little player. There are plenty of options to play with and an equalizer with a few presets as well as a user option. I love the size and weight, it will fit good in a shirt pocket and not weigh it down. The battery life seems to be as good as can be expected, especially from one AAA. I am getting about 9-10 hours average from one battery.
