WebTv... its a good start

The Bottom Line I would recommend WebTV to anyone who was looking for internet access that couldn't afford or didn't want to buy a computer.
Pros: very easy to use
Cons: takes forever to connect, very slow, and customer service is useless
I started off with a webtv 2 years ago, at the time I didn't have the money for a computer, and found the webtv's in a local store for $50, which was about half the price of other stores, I'd been wanting to access the internet forever, so I bought myself one, along with the keyboard (another $50) I went home, read through the directions and set it up on my second TV, Its a simple set up, one wire to the TV and you plug in the box and you're set to go. When you first connect, you need to fill in billing info, etc, which takes about 5 minutes, choose a screen name and you're ready to surf the web.
I liked the webtv, as I said, the price was right, you can choose up to 6 screen names, all for $19.95 a month for unlimited access.
The keyboard that webtv has is a wireless keyboard (sold separately) its a small keyboard and the keys tend to get stuck, I ended up getting a computer keyboard for mine, to make my life easier.
Its definetly a good start, its easy to use, your homepage shows several categories to choose from: mail, news, entertainment, sports, etc.
On the downside, webtv is slow, VERY slow... I only used it for about 3 months, before I got my computer, but my husband loves it and still uses it. It takes at least 3-4 minutes to log on, then while hes logged on, he gets booted off at least twice in a half hour. When I called to complain I got nothing but a run around, and finally hung up on customer service. I did get a free month though, so thats a help!
you also can't do alot on webtv, I like to play games, which I can't do on webtv because it doesn't support java, nor can you download.
Webtv is a great thing for someone who can't afford a computer or possibly for an elderly person looking for some enjoyment, my 65 year old aunt has one and loves it!
