Pros:very small files, great effects
Cons:can be overwhelming for beginners
The Bottom Line: Very good, but hard to learn. Not many competitors worth even thinking about
The internet uses about 3 main items. Pictures, pages and animations. The most widespread animations you will find will be Macromedia Flash. Flash is a frame by frame 'basic appllication' creator. Its a bit like javascript and gifs rolled into one. To make these, you have to pay $399.
A hefty fee. But, it is worth it for the dedicated website devloper. The exported video/graphic files are very small, and easy to imbed. Flash uses frames, like a video, and javascript-like commands. The floating toolbars are slightly annoying, but after a few weeks you learn the keyboard shortcuts. Flash is very powerful for what it is, and has not really got any alternative programs that do the same thing. If you have $400 to spend on something, this is sure worth a buy. Make sure you find a tutorial site, though, as it can be hard to learn, and tutorial sites (like http://flashkit.com) have special tips and ideas for creating the perfect web-page.
