Gevalia is Elegance in every sense of the word!

Pros:Beautiful, no-frills, and makes wonderful coffee even more wonderful.
Cons:None, really.
The Bottom Line: I love my Gevalia Coffeemaker and highly recommend it to you. It was a super bonus on a super offer.

I love coffee and have a great 12-cup GE coffeemaker with clock, timer, automatic on and automatic off. But I have to tell you. I read Pogomom's Review on her Gevalia 10-cup coffeemaker and I got a little covetous.

Covetous, not of the coffeemaker, but of the thought of the wonderful flavorful coffee that Gevalia offers the public. So I looked into it, after a couple of encouraging emails from Pogomom, and signed up for their plan.

At that time, the offer was this: A FREE 10-cup drip coffeemaker, 2 FREE Gevalia cups, and 3 8-oz. packages of coffee, either whole bean or ground, for only – hold on -- $10.00 plus shipping.

Who could resist an offer like that? I ordered the Vanilla Nut Kaffe and Columbia grinds. The coffeemaker choices were for black, white, beige or green.

I chose green. Not because it went with anything in my house, but because I loved the idea. And waited, in great anticipation, for my package to arrive.

The Package Arrives

I’m going to concentrate on the coffeemaker, rather than telling you about Gevalia and their great offers. I could fill a book with how wonderful this company is and how superb I think their coffee is.

The package arrived quickly, in perfect condition, and I carefully displayed everything on the kitchen counter and took a big, deep breath. Yes, husband was impressed and we both were eager to try the finely ground Vanilla Nut coffee and the new coffeemaker.

The Gevalia Coffeemaker

When they say Green, they mean green! It is not as pale a green as I had anticipated, but is more like a forest green. But, oh, the finish on it is beautiful, so shiny.

The coffeemaker measures 8 1/2” L to R, 12 ˝” in height, and 8” back to front.

There’s a swing-out basket, non-removable, that holds #4 cone filters (included in pkg.). However, we have a round filter basket that fits in this perfectly.

I soon learned, though, that you can't swing the basket out unless the carafe has been removed from the heating plate, nor can you swing it back if the carafe is seated. Once I learned that, I had no problem with it, whatsoever.

On the front of the basket, there’s a switch for weak or strong coffee. I don’t know how effective it is, as I keep it on strong, always.

On the side of the coffeemaker there’s a see-thru water gauge, marked in 2-cup increments, with a little red floating ball so you know how much it’s holding. There’s a simple flip-up top across the back, where you pour the water into the well. It’s very wide and easy to use.

The 10-cup carafe is also elegant looking. It is clearly marked with cup measurements and sports a comfortable, green, reinforced Bakelite handle, like a half-moon, with a depression for your thumb.

The lid on the carafe is, also, an elegant green and flips upward with another thumb operation.

Now for the controls. Oh, funny. There’s one cute button on the base of the coffeemaker. Push it one way, and a light comes on and the coffee-making action begins. Guess how you turn it off? Right. You merely push the button the other way, and the light goes out!

I love it. A no-frills whatsoever, gorgeous-looking coffeemaker that seems to realize that its only purpose in the world is to provide you with delicious, hot coffee!

My Take on the Gevalia 10-cup Coffeemaker

Actually, I really love it. I hadn’t intended it for everyday use, merely for special times when I wanted (and needed) to pamper myself with a delicious, distinctive, flavorful cup of coffee. A pick-me-up, so to speak.

This coffeemaker is a cinch to use, quiet in its operation, and speedy with its wonderful results. The coffee is always steaming hot and the warming plate doesn’t seem to make it strong and boiled-tasting if it happens to sit for an hour or two.

I love it and highly recommend it to you. Gevalia was established in 1853, and is a very reputable firm. Their Website is beautiful, easy to work with and their products are gorgeous.

If you’re looking for a coffeemaker that does a terrific job and looks elegant in its surroundings, think about getting the Gevalia.

I’ll be forever grateful to Pogomom for steering me in this direction. The coffeemaker has been a terrific boost to my morale and I’m enjoying it immensely.

Thanks for reading my Review and I hope it’s helpful to you.
