It has been just over a month since I wrote a review on Drano Max Liquid Clog Remover and I am already back again to tell you about Drano Max Build Up Remover. As I stated in my previous review, I have long hair. Well at least I did until I cut it the other day from the below the middle of my back to shoulder length. Part of the reason was I kept clogging up my drains and I was tired of it. I wanted to try to keep our plumbing in our apartment under some sort of manageable level and was no longer able to with my long hair. Some people would say find a hair catcher and that would resolve all of my problems. Well my fiancé and I searched hi and low from Lowes to Home Depot to Ace Hardware and couldnt find one that fit our tub. So since then I have relied on Drano to keep my water from clogging up in the middle of my shower.
I usually use the Drano Max Liquid Clog Remover every 2 to 3 months and in between I use Drano Max Build Up Remover. Drano Max is a Commercial Line that SC Johnson puts out for plumbers and consumers that can usually only be found at your local hardware store. I found Drano Max Build Up Remover while I was at Home Depot at the cost of $10.97. It doesnt come cheap but it is a 64 fl oz bottle (2 quarts).
The bottle itself of Drano Max Build Up Remover is clear with aqua green liquid inside and a yellow cap. The cap is designed like most laundry detergent caps, where if you over pour and want to put some back in, it will automatically drain into the bottle. The spout itself is cleverly designed so that it pours out easily. Drano claims on its packaging that it is the best build up remover and I believe that this is most likely true, although I have only tried one other that really wasnt successful.
The odor of the Drano Max Build Up Remover is instantaneously strong and noticeable. It has the a smell that clean out your nose so you know that it is pretty powerful stuff. It slightly reminds me of a cross between laundry detergent and a regular cleaner like Clorox Clean Up. If you decide to go out and buy it, you will definitely smell the difference it makes in a room.
The directions on the Drano Max Build Up Remover are simple depending on what type of clog you have.
For slow running drains, Drano asks that you run hot water through the drain for about a minute. Then you should pour about ¼ of the bottle into the drain and then run water through (about 2 cups they say on packaging) the drain. It is advised to not run water through the drain for about 6 to 8 hours as to let the Drano Max Build Up Remover to sit in your pipes.
For slow running toilets, yes this can be used on toilets as well, it is required that you put two capfuls of Drano Max Build Up Remover down the toilet for three days straight.
For ongoing treatment every 2 to 4 weeks it is recommended to put one capful down your shower/tub drain and two capfuls down each toilet.
The most distinct Cautions that you will find on the bottle are to Keep Out Of Reach of Children which is common for most household products and cleaners and that it may cause eye irritation, or irritation to open wounds if in contact. You must wash your hands after each use of the Drano Max Build Up Remover in case any splashing should occur.

My experience with Drano Max Build Up Remover has been a productive and positive one. I have been using this for several months now and it has been able to keep my drains for clogging in between my use of the Drano Max Liquid Clog Remover. It has been powerful enough to break down the hair that goes down the drain and flush it through the pipes so that I dont have any heavy clogging. I use the Drano Max Build Up Remover as just a precaution now when I start to see slight signs of possible clogging again.
The Drano Max Build Up Remover is a simple way to maintain your plumbing without having to pull a plumber in to snake out any of the build up. I dont know if you have ever had that expense occur, but according to both of my parents, it is not a cheap way to go. So I figure I am getting off easy for $10.97 a bottle that lasts for a few months. It just depends on how you use it and how often you choose to use it.
Drano Max Build Up Remover has taken care of the in between work with my hair constantly shedding and going down the drain as well as keeping any insects coming out of the drain as well. I dont know if you have had that occur either, which by the way is pretty disgusting if you ask me. I strongly believe that I would have clogs every single month if I wasnt using the Drano Max Build Up Remover on a consistent basis. I highly recommend it to other consumers that have clogged drain problems and issues like I do.
Until next time,
K Parsons
