When I was pregnant, I knew that this was one baby product that I needed to have. Not only had I heard rave reviews from other Mommies at my favorite parenting boards, this carrier looked so stylish and comfortable that I knew that it was for us.
It takes a while to get the hang of buckling baby in, but that is because of safety features. I really feel that Rayne Elise is safe and secure riding against my chest. The plastic cross pieces on the straps prevent them from coming through the metal loop they're threaded through should it come unsnapped on either side. That doesn't seem likely as the snaps are very tight and casp well. The carrier also has leather loops to fasten around a button above baby's legs for smaller babies, to prevent them from falling through the leg holes.
Rayne seems to really enjoy the closeness and motion of being in the carrier. The rocking and bobbing often quickly lull her to sleep. When they don't, she enjoys looking around, seeing things from a different perspective.
I also find the carrier very comfortable. My baby is a little over 12 pounds and, while my bad back prevents me from wearing her for very extended periods, I was rather astounded to find that I could carry her for an hour or more without much pain at all.
One of the semi-drawbacks of this carrier is that I often tend to make a fool of myself while wearing it and my baby. Yesterday, while shopping at Home Depot with my husband, I found myself singing to and dancing with my baby. I really couldn't help myself. I may have gotten some funny looks, but my baby and I both enjoyed ourselves very much.
