Pros: Extremely fast color at low res and quick photo quality color at max res.
Cons: Killer consumable costs. Chips on consumables make it impossible to use after expiration dates, OUCH!!!
The Bottom Line: Unless you have deep pockets this printer is not for you. Built for the heavy use environment if you can afford expensive ink and heads.

| zlotmachinskyr's Full Review: Hewlett Packard 2000 Cxi InkJet Printer |
Great new out of the box but almost disposable after a few expired partially used ink cartridges and printheads have to be replaced or else, or else what? The what is the whole show shuts down in seconds flat. No kidding and with 4 print heads and 4 ink cartridges each costing in excess of $35 - $40 it can be a pricey affair leading to an early divorce or bankruptcy. Just keep in mind that this throughal-bred is special for several reasons: Speed and quality. It can produce eye-popping 8 x 10 inch color photographs in just over 3 minutes and with Kodak's photo-ret technology you get remarkable photorealism in your output at maximum quality and remarkable color speed at the lowest resolution quality to check preliminary printouts rapidly with little ink usage. This inkjet printer is a miser when it comes to ink usage and one can run about 3000 sheets in color at minimum quality on a set of ink cartridges. Far fewer printouts result when set for maximum resolution naturally. Photos should be printed on photo grade inkjet paper. Note that there is a limit as to how heavy a paper can be run through this machine as it will not pick up if too heavy, e.g. greater than 55 lb. The extra heavy paper just gets stuck while the printer happily sprays all the guts inside with ink. It can take scores of sheets of paper printing one period to soak up all the spilled ink. At least printing one period doesn't use much ink. This printer will print up to legal size paper. There is no straight through output for extra heavy papers. All paper must do the internal curl around.
Wonderful when it works. Dumpster bait when it bites you.
Replace ink and printheads only when they run out or face a pile of unuseable supplies if God-forbid they are out of date. Note that all four individual printheads and individual ink cartridges have a small microprocessor chip glued onto them and make electrical contact with this printer when inserted. Once a chip on an ink cartridge or a printhead is sprung, back dating the bios will not bring your printer back to life. You're stuck buying new supplies if you ever want this printer to print again!!!
So just throw the HP2000Cxi away when you run out of ink and buy a new one or equivalent. Why not? Cost of a new printer with warranty is $280 vs $320 plus tax for all new printheads and the 4 ink cartridges and you still have an older machine to boot. What a joke. Owners and possible buyers beware, the joke is foisted upon us by date watching chips on the ink supplies and 4 different color printheads. As adults we can make our own judgements as to quality of our print output. We users don't need big brother shutting down our printers because our supplies are slightly out of date with lots of ink remaining. So a pox on HP for the inclusion of microprocessor chips on all hp 2000c printheads and ink cartridges . Note: expiration chips are banned in the EU marketplace & I heartily agree with it!!!
