Ditech.com - Stay away from these guys!!!
by GOkinaka | Mar 29 '01
As for Ditech.com, their customer service and promptness is very lacking. Try checking out other online lenders such as www.lendingtree.com.

We just canceled our loan contract with Ditech. I wish we had visited Epinions.com before even calling them. One person says one thing. Another contradicts the other person. They would not return phone calls when I repeatedly left messages concerning erroneous paperwork that they had sent. A very rude "Valerie" called late in the evening and accused us of manufacturing our pay stubs even thou I had told her and everyone that worked there that WE OWNED OUR OWN COMPANY AND PRODUCED OUR OWN PAYROLL CHECKS!!! I had sent 4 years of W-2's and we had no debt and one of the highest credit ratings you could have. I was told one fee when we started the process and then about $700 was tacked on for no apparent reason. I finally told Valerie that I thought they didn't have their act together and to forget the whole thing. You'd think someone from customer service would have called over the next few weeks to see if they could iron things out. What losers.....I'm going to my local bank....they treat you like a human being!!

Ditech is inept - Poor service - Disorganized - Misleading (Reply to this comment)

We have just about finished with a refi, assuming we can get Ditech to disburse the funds that is....

It started out fine with the "order taker", but the loan processor was either new or did not know her job well. She asked us for documents, said we were done, then asked for more documents. Basically they didn't seem to know how to process a loan and she didn't understand the refinance closing process.

When it finally came time to close we were given three different dates which they never hit. Finally the notary called us the evening before he was coming to sign the papers at our house (Januray 4th, 2005). We were disappointed as we anted to close before then end of the year which Ditech promised twice...

In Massachusetts you must wait three days before a contract is final. On January 10th we had not heard from Ditech and called the loan processor. She indicated that the funds would be available on the 13th or 14th of January! We think this illegal and will follow up with Massachusets law tomorrow (1/11/05).

Basically Ditech's service is brutal. Try Quicken Loan or Countrywide before Ditech.....

Dodged a Ditech Bullet (Reply to this comment)

Ditech looked good on the surface. I called them to take advantage of their 395 fixed cost refinance. Nov 16, 2004, I faxed their rate lock form back to them with my credit card number on it. On Nov 17, I returned the loan application via Fedex. I received a call that day from Ben, who told me that he would be in touch within 2 days to go over my application. I was also told an appraiser would be in contact with me in the same period.

As of December 8 (3 weeks later), I had heard nothing and assumed it was dead. The good news is my credit card had not been charged the $500. I reported my card lost to protect myself. I figured the vultures would have charged me upon receipt of the info. The only conclusion I can come to is that my information got lost. Thankfully, there were no fradulent charges to my account.

On December 10, Ben had left me a message with an excuse about the appraiser making a mistake. Appraiser? What Appraiser? I left him a message in return and told him that 3.5 weeks of hearing nothing was inexcusable and that I was done.

December 12, I had an appraiser call who wanted to schedule an appointment for today. I told him I had cancelled the loan and not to bother.

Today they have called me relentlessly. I just keep ignoring it. The time for calling me was 3 weeks ago when they said they would.

I called a friend, who is a mortgage broker. He's setting me up with a lower rate, better costs, and we'll be closing in 10 days. He informed me that Ditech's 395 fixed costs only cover their costs, and that I would be hit with surprises on signing day (assuming it ever happened). Sure enough, I reviewed the Good Faith estimate, and they had p.o.c. designators on several of the costs. p.o.c. means paid outside of closing. In short, I would have to come up with a bunch more cash, due to their misrepresentation of themselves.

Ditech's obviously large advertising budget should have been a tip-off. They are spending their money there rather than taking care of their customers. All I can say to anyone considering ditech is not to expect being taken care of. I would also hire a lawyer to read their misleading documents.

Ditech.com loan (Reply to this comment)
by jjgunshop
I was considering a refinance loan thru ditech.com. but, after reading 12 complaints on the company I've decided against it. I do believe after reading the complaints, those that have been taken in by ditech's tactics should contact the U.S. Attorney's office for a criminal investigation. Ditech has used the telephone system for it's fraudulent purposes of being paid for services not rendered. most of the money ditech received was from other states making it a Federal crime instead of a individual State crime which the State Attorney General's office would decline. Business's like ditech assume the majority public will not seek any prosecutorial action. These thugs need to be held accountable.

regardless of whether it's an online lender or a traditional.

Next time, find a loan officer that is local and referred to you by a friend or family member.
