If your wondering what the difference is between the i950 and the i960, there is virtually none except the price. This printer just came out October 2003. Don't buy a i950 for $250, or you'll waste $50. I assume Canon needed to enter a quality photo printer to compete with the other printers in this price range. But that is what you've come to expect over the years, better quality at the same or better prices. I just replaced a Canon BJC-610 printer I bought in 1996 that was around $250 and what a piece of junk it is now compared to the i960 for $200.
Setup was easy and software installation was a snap. Not sure why they never include a printer cable but you will need to buy a USB cable for around $20-$25. This printer supports USB 1.1 and 2.0 (there are two separate inputs on the back for each. The printer comes with all the ink and a 4X6 trial pack of Canon Photo Paper pro. The 4X6 pictures are fed through a seperate feeder also included. It doesn't come with a photo editor per say but rather a decent photo browser "Zoom Browser EX", a photo album creator, and a utility to "stitch" together photos, all of which are relatively friendly to use. I like using the photo browser because when you want to edit the photo you can use your own photo editing software within the application (it will ask you what photo editing tool you want to use the first time you ask it to edit the picture).
I started by printing a picture I took a few years ago on a Olympus 1.3 megapixal camera (1200X800) on the 4X6 photo paper. The quality is stunning. It looks almost exactly like what you would get back from the photo lab. The only thing that didn't turn out perfect in my picture was the blue sky in the background, if you studied it close enough, had minor imperfections. But the software does have a feature you can select to "reduce noise" that is supposed to compensate for this. I will try that next time.
For the money, I don't know how you'd beat this printer. It looks sharp. It's quiet. And it's fast.
