There was a time when Diablo 2: LOD was fun, but multiplayer has gone to moot. Dueling is near impossible unless you use hacked items. (Impossible items made by pinging the D2 servers) which let people do atleast 50x the damage they should be capable of doing.
Being as multiplayer is 99% of the game, I'd say it's not worth it unless you want to buy into the hacks and join the legions of jejune 10-year olds that riddle the multiplayer world.
If you don't plan on playing with anybody else, then by all means buy it.
