Let me start off by saying that I don't live in Hartford, I live near New London, Hartford id just the clossest city that I coulf put down.
Anyways, about the service plan, its not good enough. Around here I guess Verizon gets you to sign by giving you nice phones at cheap prices. My phone only cost $30, and it is loaded with stuff. It is supersmall, and light weight (it easily fits into the palm of my hand), and has plenty of features, such as speed dial, vibrate ring, web browser, ability to send and recieve faxes, etc. Thats about the only good thing about this plan.
I pay $30 a month, and I get 200 anytime minutes, and 1000 weekend minutes, (just weekends, no nights) along with a free wireless web trial, and no long distance. Now, I thought that free nights and weekends was pretty standard on most plans, but not on this one. There is no free mobile to mobile, either. I know for a fact that Cingular offers free nights and weekends and free mobile to mobile calling, along with 225 minutes for the same $30 a month. Sprint PCS offers 500 minutes and free nights and weekends (I am pretty sure, unless it was a special that is done with). Verizon should easily be able to offer a plan at least comparable to that, but it doesn't. The only thing that I have that is better than the other plans in my area is free wireless web acess (although thats going to expire soon), and its not that big of a deal.
The service is iffy. In my area (Mystic) I will barely be getting service, and it will stay like that for a half hour. I move the phone 2 feet, and it gets full service. Also, sometimes, it says I'm on Roam, when I clearly am in my home area. (This could be from the fisher's island tower, but my tower, which is like 2 miles away, should have a much stronger signal than the fisher's island tower, which is like 10 miles away). On the other hand, there are lots of areas where I can get full and complete service.
The customer service is polite and they can help out very well, at least in my expirence, although that along with the nice phone and the no long distance charges are basically the only plusses in my service.
In the end, when my friends and I look at our cell phones, if any have no service, mine is usually the one, which means that other carriers towers have better service. The only thing about my plan that is better than my friends is the wireless web, and the nice phone.
