Features
Kodak Inkjet Photo Paper is a high quality paper designed specifically for printing photographs on a desktop inkjet printer. This package contains 15 sheets of 8.5 X 11 inch paper. According to Kodak, this is 117 lb. paper, or 190 g per square meter. The sheets are packaged in a thick paperboard envelope, which really does a nice job of keeping them from getting damaged. Similar to photographic film, Kodak recommends storing this paper flat in a cool, dry location.
Performance
As is indicated on the front of the package, this paper looks and feels just like photographic paper. The printable side is glossy and the back is dull with the Kodak label, which makes it easy to identify the printable side. I've printed almost a dozen photos on this paper using a Hewlett Packard Deskjet 5550. Each time, I've been very impressed with how closely the colors on the screen are replicated on the paper. Of course, this is controlled by several factors, including ink quality, color management, etc. Resolution is excellent. All of the photographs I printed were 8 X 10 and saved at 300 ppi. This produced true photo quality images. A piece of dust on a slide was captured by the scanner and reproduced exactly on this paper. For comparison, I've printed the same photo twice, one print on this Kodak paper and one print on other photo paper. The Kodak photo paper was by far the better paper.
I've had no problems with handling of this paper in the above mentioned printer. Although it is substantially thicker than standard inkjet printer, it easily folds without creasing. As advertised, ink dries extremely quickly on this paper. After about 20 seconds, it appears to be completely dry. This is an especially nice feature for situations when a photograph must be quickly displayed, mailed, etc. And of course, it helps reduce the chance of smudging in any situation. I have noticed that the paper tends to curl slightly as the ink dries. Placing a couple light paper weights on each corner quickly made it perfectly flat again, so I don't really consider this to be a problem.
Conclusions
A superb inkjet photo paper that performs better than any I've tested so far. The price per sheet is higher than several competitors, but in my experience with inkjet photo paper, you get what you pay for.
