Pros: I can now hear myself think! VERY quieting.
Cons: Expensive, lots of planning needed, cut edges are messy to deal with.
The Bottom Line: If you want to hear yourself, your stereo, and not your exhaust, use this stuff!

| jmanley's Full Review: Dynamat 10415 10 x 10 Xtreme Vibration Damping |
I have an older Mustang that I drag race on weekends. To say that it's loud is an understatement. My daughter refused to ride in it because it hurt her ears. 3" exhaust and 465 horsepower will do that. Plus, my floorboards got VERY hot, you couldn't leave your hand on them on a hot day.
I started doing research into materials to dissipate the heat as well as quiet the header/exhaust noise, and it seemed that Dynamat Extreme was what I needed.
I purchased both a 10x10 and bulk pack so that I could do all of the floor as well as the back seat area.
Installation was fairly easy. I measured, drew with a Sharpie the pattern, and cut with a box cutter, then started at one corner and worked it into the grooves and bends until it was in place. It took me approx. 3 hours to install 46 sq. feet of the stuff. When I was done, I had a nicely covered floor, though where I overlapped the material, it definitely was noticable w/o the carpet in place.
As it was a hot day, I noticed the edges of the material were a bit tacky. I wasn't sure how much it would run or ooze, so I covered all seams with tape, something you might want to consider. I used 1" wide strapping tape, but packing tape would probably work well also.
I didn't like how fragile the aluminum was. In my opinion, it should have been just slightly thicker.
Now, for the test drive. Started the car, and noticed right away it was quieter. Drove around town, and I can't describe how much quieter it was, other than to let you know that for the first time I could *hear* that my speedo cable was making noise and needed replacement. I had no idea before! It made that much difference!
Only suggested improvement is throwing in 100' of aluminum tape to cover the seams to prevent oozing or running of the black tar-like layer.
