Opinion Summary
A different car with the six-speed (reviews both transmissions)
by mkaresh | Oct 26 '03
Pros: Power, rear-drive chassis, rear seat room, price, more character with the six-speed
Cons: Marginal interior materials, oversteer overly abrupt, character will not be agreeable to all

Sorry, but all three cars and the FX SUV are based on the same "FM" platform. Not exactly a secret.

You write that the G35 and 350Z share the same platform, when in fact, they do not. The G35 is based on the Skyline available in Japan and other markets, while the Z car is a totally new platform designed from the ground up. I'm sure they are very similar and borrow from each other, but they are not the same chassis.

Oops. I cut and pasted portions over from my first review, of the 2003.

Pricing... (Reply to this comment)

I got my 2004 G35 for $500 over invoice (or about $2000 under MSRP) and was quoted $800-1000 over invoice at other dealerships. CarsDirect.com sells it for $800 over invoice (both auto and 6-speed).

But good luck finding one in the color you like with no sunroof.

I think you have a typo: "This said, I personally prefer a manual, and look forward to driving a G35 again when the manual becomes available late in 2002."
