These guys gave me my worst online shopping experience ever.
I ordered a Minolta XT digital camera from them because they advertised a pretty good price. I received a product that had the factory seal broken, had been opened, tampered with and was broken--it had a fingerprint on the lens, made a queer buzzing sound when turned on, and did not operate. What Broadway Photo shipped me, as a "new" camera, was obviously a defective product returned by someone else.
I called them, politely asking them to make good on it. O my god, were they sleazy and impolite! The man explained to me that I could not return "my new camera" because it was broken (!). He referred me to the manufacturer, for a replacement. I demanded to talk to a manager, and after being further insulted and placed on hold for over a half hour, I did finally speak to another man who offered to exchange it for a $50 restocking fee. He explained that this was the best they could do--"take it or leave it." The guy was abrasive, condescending and just laughed when I protested. I also had to give my credit card number again (to pay for a whole new camera) and ship the defective one back to them (at my own expense), and then wait 2 weeks for a refund for the broken one (minus the restocking fee).
How do sleazes like this stay in business? My god, don't order from them, ever.
