The Bottom Line So in all fairness to raising teenagers today, Give them room to grow and Think! Don't always be so fast to find fault.
The challenge starts the day they are born, They cry, They always need your attention, they laugh at you, They do the "test your patience tricks, They are just older now so to really get you going they will throw in the "think they know it all phase. That's when you wish you could lock them in a closet until they turn 21, but in reality that would be child abuse so we have to deal with them in other ways. I have 4 children and I thank God everyday that they are all past the teen days. Trust me, it is a phase and they do grow out of it. I have seen my 3 sons and 1 daughter pull every stunt in the book to drive me insane, but it did not work. I had this thing we called family meetings where we would all sit at the table and talk about every thing and anything that was on our minds, And believe me, I learned to bite my tongue many times, It was understood that we could be open and honest without yelling or getting grounded for what was disclosed at these get togethers. But we all grew much closer and since I had 4 kids, I really did not have to get on to them because the other 3 would always have a response to the one that was telling all. It really made all of us closer together and I noticed that the kids were really listening to the responses that their siblings had to say to them. And they were learning from each others mistakes. |
